Product and Solutions Analyst, ProductXpress

Reporting to the senior director, Shared Services or assigned delivery executive/project manager, the product and solutions analyst, ProductXpress is responsible for contributing to the successful client implementation of ProductXpress and meeting client commitments according to plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides input to functional and integration strategy of ProductXpress in clients environment
  • Analyzes Strategic Product implementation requirements including:
    • Products requiring implementation in ProductXpress
    • Reviews structure of systems that require integration
    • Reviews deployment environment
    • Develops product structure model
    • Develops working standards for structural names
  • Provides work estimates for determining person effort involved in product design and implementation
  • Product development process review and analysis
  • Product design considerations and optimization of calculations
  • Design, development and testing of production calculations and deployment components
  • Liaise with Integration and Solutions Specialist to deliver key product content
  • Deployment Mapping and integration support activities
  • Support target value delivery and ROI, efficiency measurements
  • Conducts informal training of clients on the architecture, operation and use of the system
  • Participate in the review, and enhancement of training materials
  • Participate in the design and documentation of methodologies and templates

Qualifications:

  • Exposure to actuarial concepts
  • A basic understanding of structures and calculations in insurance products
  • A university degree/community college diploma
  • Financial services or insurance industry experience (traditional and non-traditional life, annuity, investment and disability product concepts) a definite asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Flexibility and ability to travel primarily within North America
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to perform effectively under stressful conditions such as directional changes, tight deadlines, limited resources

Business Analysts/Software Testers, Products & Services Development

We are currently looking for business analysts/software testers, Products & Services Development for our Toronto, Ontario office.

Reporting to an assigned project manager or team leader, the business analyst is responsible for contributing to meeting customer commitments according to plan. The business analyst is responsible for assisting in defining business requirements and the implementation of solutions, in order for customers to meet their business goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilizes knowledge of both the life insurance industry and product functionality by writing functional specifications of moderate complexity and performs various validity testing
  • Writes and executes test conditions of moderate complexity for routine or isolated programming changes
  • Contributes to the resolution of common system problems
  • Consults with customers to define needs or problem areas and determines scope of investigation required to recommend possible solutions
  • Analyzes data to determine solutions for system processing according to the customer's business requirements
  • Constructs simple process flows
  • Works within EDS SOLCORP's project implementation methodology and follows applicable standards

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in business data modeling and process modeling (experience using Use Case, XDE or other modeling tools, UML concepts etc.)
  • Minimum 3 years experience with HTML and/or experience with GUI design
  • 1-2 years experience with data mapping/data conversion analysis. Experience in a data warehouse environment – working on the data mappings and extracts for data marts
  • Experience developing test plans, test cases and executing test cases (online and batch)
  • Testing tools experience with Compuware: TestPartner, QADirector and QALoad
  • Knowledge of XML and how to test XML messages
  • XSLT knowledge and experience an asset
  • Insurance industry experience especially in annuity and life insurance preferred
  • Strong math and/or actuarial background and/or stats background
  • Familiarity with regulations around financial products would also be an asset (ideally across jurisdictions)
  • Certified Software Quality Engineering (CSQE) an asset

Business Services Analysts Senior

We are currently looking for senior business analysts, Products & Services Development for our Toronto, Ontario office.

Reporting to the assigned project manager, the business services analyst senior is responsible for contributing to the successful implementation of EDS SOLCORP applications and meeting client commitments according to plan. This particular role will act as the lead subject matter expert (SME) and client sponsor for the RADIENCE GMPP development initiative.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for requirement definition, test criteria definition and results validation
  • Writes and executes test conditions in order to validate complex business requirements are met
  • Contributes to the resolution of common system problems
  • Consults with stakeholders to define systems needs or potential problem areas and determines scope of investigation required to recommend possible solutions
  • Analyzes data to determine solutions for system processing according to the stakeholder business requirements
  • Actively manages business scope and prioritizes functional deliverables to ensure major requirements are delivered and meet stakeholder needs
  • Makes critical decisions on functionality that is mandatory and what can be delivered in a subsequent phase
  • Works within the project implementation methodology and follows applicable standards
  • Works closely with project management and stakeholders to drive functional deliverables and signs-off on releases

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years life insurance/financial industry experience in a lead role at a supervisor or managerial level responsible for all aspects of variable annuity operations on the business or IT side of the organization or equivalent experience in a senior business analyst type role
  • Detailed knowledge of the following:
    • Application entry/Straight Thru Processing (DTCC,IPA/APP,Annuity NET)
    • Cash Management Processing (within manufacturer and settlement against external brokerage accounts)
    • Unique product features for accumulation annuities such as:
      • Front End load structures (A,B,C and L shares)
      • Contingent deferred surrender charge structures
      • Administration charges (annual and periodic)
      • Living Benefits (GMAB, GMWB, GMIB)
      • Liquidation methods
      • Mortality expense charges
      • Claims treatments
      • US Section 72 Internal Revenue Code rules
      • US non-qualified & qualified arrangements (IRA, Roth IRA, 403, 457, 401K etc.)
    • Knowledge of the following would be a plus:
      • Free Look processing
      • Commissions structures/methods
      • List Bill support for qualified or worksite plans
      • Asset allocation models and re-allocation methods
      • Not In Good Order rules (NIGO)
      • Knowledge of 1035 special handling (full & partial exchanges)
  • Experience working with and guiding IT teams in order to validate that applications are delivering to the business needs
  • A university degree/college diploma or equivalent business experience
  • SOLCORP/INGENIUM experience is an asset

Senior Programmer Analysts

We are currently looking for senior programmer analysts for our Toronto, Ontario office.

Reporting to the project manager, Product & Services Development or assigned project manager, the senior programmer analyst is responsible for contributing to the successful implementation of EDS SOLCORP applications and meeting client commitments according to plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists in analysis and design of a technical infrastructure to support product development
  • Writes technical specifications from moderately complex functional specifications that define data migration business requirements
  • Creates complex programs to implement the data migration infrastructure where there are detailed technical specifications.
  • Creates test scenarios and perform unit testing of own programming changes.
  • Resolves programming problems of moderate complexity
  • Supports running of jobs or utilities, appropriate to the development environment (e.g. scheduled application builds, batch programs)
  • Works within EDS SOLCORP's prescribed project implementation methodology and follows applicable standards
  • Completes task estimation for how long it will take to complete a part of work
  • Participates in technical reviews, providing feedback and input

Qualifications:

  • 7-10 years in the IT industry in a software development capacity 3 -5 years experience programming using the following technologies: Java, XML, J2EE , JSP, HTML, XSLT, WSDL 3-5 years experience using J2EE Application Server: IBM Websphere or equivalent (BEA Weblogic)
  • Knowledge of deploying software on WinTel and Unix (scripts, setup, XML tools, etc)
  • Knowledge of Database Deployment DB2 Knowledge of LDAP deployment and configuration (nice to have)
  • Knowledge of administration of MQ series
  • Solid troubleshooting skills
  • Configuration, management skills
  • Technical analysis skills to analyze new customer environments 2 years experience using Java testing products: JUnit, JTest
  • Familiarity with Java performance products: (e.g. JProbe) would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with legacy environment (e.g. COBOL) would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with Relational Database access (i.e. SQL) would be an asset
  • Familiarity with software development methodologies such as Rational Rose
